Executive Director


Bill attended the University of Ottawa where he graduated with an Honours Degree in Physical Education.  He achieved excellence in the world of sports, being named as an “All Canadian” running back for the 1975 University of Ottawa Gee Gees, National Football Champions and the first team in the history of Canadian university football to go undefeated.  

He then enjoyed a 5 year professional football career with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Toronto Argonauts in the C.F.L.  Subsequent to his football career, Bill went on to a diverse and challenging career in the non-profit, private and educational sectors specializing in the areas of sports and athletics, health and fitness, youth leadership, skills training, tourism and public safety.

Bill held the position of Supervisor of Athletics for Georgian College in Barrie, Ontario for 8 years, then held marketing, communications and development positions with several non-profit organizations.  This included the position of Program Manager at Skills Canada, a national non-profit dedicated to the development of skills training for youth in the areas of technology and trades.  He was the lead organizer for the first ever “Canadian Skills Competitions” at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton in 1994, then led the technical team for Canada at the “1997 International Youth Skills Olympics” in St. Gallen, Switzerland.

 Bill joined HHGC in 2009 and was the first ever Executive Director in the Centre’s history. “Of all the places I’ve worked, there is none more special than HHGC.  It provides a professional, supportive and fun environment for young people to learn and grow and is staffed by amazing coaches and staff who care about the success of all gymnasts and young coaches alike.” 

As a former gymnast at Burlington Central High School, Bill is passionate about what gymnastics can do for youth and is proud to be part of the HHGC team that that “makes a positive and lasting change to the participants of the centre, through the provision of high quality gymnastics, tumbling, trampoline and other physical activity programs in a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment.”

Coaching and training experience includes the CSS Club for the Romanian National Championships; athletes competing at National Championship; and the Campbell River Gymnastics Association, British Columbia. Coaching at Halton Hills Gymnastics Centre for 16 years.

AlyssaAlyssa Lopez
Director, Recreational Programs & Parent Relations

Alyssa comes to the Halton Hills Gymnastics Club with over 15 years of coaching experience and over 5 years of leading and developing strong teams. She grew up as an athlete doing gymnastics at Futures in Mississauga, and as a Pre-Comp coach at Milton Springers.   She developed a love and passion for the sport and sees this opportunity at HHGC as a natural progression of her skills, interests and experience. Health, fitness and well-being is at the core of who Alyssa is and she is still an active competing athlete with the Canadian Physique Alliance. Alyssa believes that gymnastics is the foundation sport for youth and has an encouraging, positive approach to teaching gymnastics. Alyssa also has such a passion to develop coaches to help them become strong role models for our athletes, keeping them engaged in gymnastics!

Alyssa’s vision is to create a culture of fun, fitness and the fundamentals of gymnastics in a safe, friendly and fair atmosphere, upholding our core values. Alyssa has coached all levels of the Recreational Stream, Pre-Competitive, Developmental and Invitational levels in the Competitive stream. Alyssa has an Honors Degree from the University of Guelph, is NCCP Level 2 WAG certified, Level 1 NCCP Trampoline and is a certified Nutrition Coach.

Office Manager

Barb has been with the Halton Hills Gymnastis Centre for 22 years and has over 20 years of coaching experience.  Barb is a Certified Level 1 Women's Artistic Gymnastics and Trampoline coach and has been involved in everything from Coaching, Rec Director, leading fundraising initiatives, Volunteer recruitment and running the day to day operations of the facility.  Barb the number 1 fan of all the gymnasts in our club and gets excited for each athlete as they master new skills. She is an avid sportsperson and the Office Manager.


Emily Danecker

Assistant Recreational Director

Emily started gymnastics when she was three years old and immediately fell in love with the sport. She competed in women's artistic gymnastics for many years before finishing her competitive career at the age of 22. Since then, she has kept active by participating in competitive cheerleading with Brock University and local all-star teams. Emily has over a decade of coaching experience, is a fully Level.2 Certified W.A.G Coach and has worked in many areas of gymnastics including, competitive, recreational, trampoline, tumbling, and more! 

 

Emma Keough

Recreational Supervisor

Emma has been a part of Halton Hills Gymnastics Centre since she was 6 years old. She trained competitively from age 7-13 and competed all across the province. Emma competed at a provincial level for several years, where she worked towards competing level 7. Emma has been coaching at HHGC for 6 years and is Level 2 Women's Artistic Gymnastics Trained as well as Level 1 Trampoline certified. Emma has a passion for working with children which has lead her to study Child & Youth at Brock University.
